We’re lucky to live in an area that is ripe with mental health resources. There are a lot of amazing people who do great work. For families and kids who are struggling, the more supports in place, the better. Here are a few that are good to just know about:

Alachua County Crisis Center

The Crisis Center is available 24 hours a day by phone to offer crisis and suicide prevention counseling to all Alachua County residents.

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline

Directly from their website, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is “a network of local crisis centers that provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. “


LGBT Resources

Gainesville Equality Youth – This is a group for teens that meets twice per month at the downtown library here in Gainesville, and it’s open to all teens.

– People of all ages are welcome at the PFLAG chapter meetings, but anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Childcare can also be made available for parents with small children if needed by contacting the organization 1-2 weeks ahead.
